MCP tool integration: how to do it with AI

AdvancedBot with human review ⚙️ Automation & agents
Connect an agent to tools/data via Model Context Protocol.
1. Bot automation level
Bot with human review Agents act on real systems; review plans, approvals and results before trusting them.
2. Before you hand it to the bot
- Gather inputs: files, data samples, links and any templates.
- Set up access: connect only the apps/repos the agent needs, with least-privilege accounts.
- Context: tell the bot audience, purpose, constraints and examples of good output.
- Privacy check: remove personal, confidential or regulated data unless your plan/workspace is approved for it.
- Success criteria: write down what 'done' looks like (length, format, tests passing, fields filled).
3. Copy-paste prompts
Main prompt
Add the Postgres MCP server and ask the agent to query orders.
Beginner-friendly
Add the Postgres MCP server and ask the agent to query orders. I'm new to this: explain each step in plain words and ask me for anything you need before starting.
Check-your-work
Add the Postgres MCP server and ask the agent to query orders. When you finish, list any assumptions you made, anything you're unsure about, and what I should double-check before using the result.
Free tiers that can handle this (verified): n8n. Others: check plan.
4. Step-by-step
- Pick the MCP server you need (database, ticketing, docs) from its official source.
- Add it in your client: Claude Code (/mcp), Cursor MCP settings, Copilot cloud agent MCP config, n8n MCP Client node, Copilot Studio.
- Use read-only credentials first.
- Ask the agent to list available tools and run one harmless read query.
- Only then allow write tools, with confirmation prompts on.
- Document which servers are enabled and who owns them.
5. Which bots and plans can do it
| Tool | What's different here | Plan limits | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude (incl. Claude Code) | Claude Code supports MCP servers; computer use is itself a built-in MCP server. | Claude Code and Research need Pro or higher; computer use is Pro/Max only (research preview). | code.claude.com/docs/en/desktop |
| Cursor | Cloud Agents and Agent support team MCP servers. | Pricing page unverified; cloud agents require a connected source-control repo. | cursor.com/docs/agent/overview |
| GitHub Copilot | Cloud agent integrates with MCP servers. | Free: 2,000 completions + 50 chats; cloud agent listed on paid plans. | docs.github.com/en/copilot/concepts/agents/cloud-agent/about-cloud-agent |
| n8n | Has MCP Client and MCP Server Trigger nodes. | Self-host Community Edition free, or Cloud plans (EUR); AI nodes need model credentials or Assistant credits. | n8n.io/pricing/ |
| Microsoft Copilot Studio | Supports MCP alongside connectors. | Pricing not verified; requires Microsoft tenant/admin setup. | www.microsoft.com/en-us/copilot/products/copilot-studio |
| Mistral Le Chat | Supports connectors and MCP. | Free tier has limited messages, searches and coding sessions; Pro raises limits. | mistral.ai/pricing |

- n8n: Free: yes. Community Edition is free if you self-host. Paid: price not verified, so check the official site. Its free tier can handle this task.
- Microsoft Copilot Studio: Free: not verified, so check the official site. Paid: price not verified, so check the official site. For this task, check the plan.
- Mistral Le Chat: Free plan: yes. limited messages, searches, coding sessions and basic images. Paid: the lowest price we could verify on the official pricing page is $14.99/month (other plans may exist). For this task, check the plan.
6. Risks and what to double-check
- MCP servers can expose powerful actions; review each tool's permissions.
- Untrusted MCP servers or tool output can carry prompt injection.
- Start with a dry run and an approval step; add logging and a kill switch.
- AI can hallucinate facts — verify anything that matters.
- Watch for prompt injection from web pages, emails or files the agent reads.
